Subscription and Payment
How much does a Petroleum Abstracts subscription cost?
Annual subscription fees for the Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin and TULSA are based on the E&P-related assets of the subscribing company or organization, or on annual revenues for small companies or consultants. Educational institutions and government agencies receive special rates. Contact PA for current pricing.
Does Petroleum Abstracts offer subscriptions for individuals?
PA does not offer subscriptions for individuals. Access to the database is available only by annual subscription on an organization-wide basis.
What is the difference between a Major Subscriber and a General Subscriber?
Exploration and Production companies with more than US$2 billion in petroleum-related assets and Service and Supply companies with more than US$250 million in petroleum-related assets subscribe to PA at Major Subscriber rates. Major subscribers include large oil and gas companies, service and supply companies, drilling contractors, pipeline companies and national oil ministries. All other companies and organizations subscribe at General Subscriber rates.
Do you have a special educational or not-for-profit rate?
Yes. Universities and government agencies (other than national oil ministries) pay reduced annual subscription rates.
Can I pay by wire transfer of funds?
Yes, but there is an additional minimum charge of US$15 per invoice or payment for bank wire-transfer fees.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.
Can I request a quote or a proforma invoice for a Petroleum Abstracts subscription?
Yes, PA can provide a quote or a proforma invoice for your organization. Contact our Marketing and Subscribers Services group to request a price quote.
How can I search the TULSA database on the Web?
Access to TULSA is provided by four commercial online vendors: EBSCOhost, Ovid Technologies, ProQuest/Dialog and FIZ Karlsruhe . Each of the vendors maintains a website with a proprietary search interface and TULSA database access. To search the TULSA database, you must have an account with at least one of these online vendors.
How do I subscribe to TULSA?
An online service subscription with PA provides an annual search license that authorizes your organization to access TULSA. You also need to have an account with one or more of the online vendors listed above.
How much do the online vendors charge?
Please contact each vendor directly for its price and account information. Each vendor establishes its own price schedule of access and retrieval rates for TULSA.
Does Petroleum Abstracts offer TULSA search training?
Yes. Contact PA for a current training schedule.
How often is TULSA updated?
TULSA is updated weekly on all vendors the first 50 weeks of each year.
Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin
What formats are available for the PA Bulletin?
The PA Bulletin is available in PDF, HTML and XML formats.
How can I keep from searching through the whole Bulletin every week to find the entries that are important to me?
PA's PAnet Profile service selects the Bulletin material of interest to you and delivers it by e-mail weekly. You can specify the PA index terms for the material you want to see.
Why didn't I get issues 51 and 52 of the Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin?
The PA Bulletin is issued the first 50 weeks of the calendar year, so there are no issues 51 and 52. The University of Tulsa is closed for holidays during the last two weeks of the year.
