Who We Are
As an important member of the University of Tulsa community, Petroleum Abstracts is comprised of information specialists in geosciences, engineering, information technology, editing and publishing, and document control, each of whom contribute to the development and production of the weekly Petroleum Abstracts Bulletin, the online TULSA database, and other products.
Dr. Thomas Burchfield, Director of Petroleum Abstracts

Dr. Burchfield has a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He came to Petroleum Abstracts from TRW Information & Technical Services Division in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he was the Director of Business Development. He has extensive experience in the support of research and development for the petroleum exploration and production industry. He has also authored 59 technical articles and reports and holds two patents. Dr. Burchfield is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi.
